The owners of this elegant Colonial in Belmont, with brick sides and a slate roof, wanted to add a winter family gathering place and to create a connection to their under-utilized back yard in the summer. A sun room was added just off the kitchen, leading to a new deck for eating and sitting. Cottage windows with low sills and french doors, let the sun in. A gas fireplace surrounded by built-ins, with a TV above, and a wet bar with granite counter allow cozy inside entertainment. Outside, paneling below the windows dresses up the shingle exterior. An in-ward looking Colonial has been transformed to a modern house with easy flow, inside and out.
