Connect Barn to Antique House

Empty nesters in Groton wanted to add a mudroom connector between their antique house and an existing barn garage.  The addition includes a closet, hallway, full bath and pantry with Montauk black slate floors. We remodeled a defunct kitchen and opened-up a wall to a new eating area. Framed inset cabinets, soap stone counters, reuse of an old sink, windows with divided lights, exposed old timbers and black hardware reinforce the period of the house. An extra kitchen was converted to a bar/games nook adjacent to living/music areas.  The addition siding is a mix of cedar clapboards and pine ship lap.
